SAP Cloud Identity Service

Authentication and management of identities

Secure authentication in the cloud

SAP Cloud Identity Services are a set of services that authenticate and provide identities between systems. They have established themselves as the standard in user management and are the core components of the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). Using central instances, SAP Cloud Identity Services secure access to all applications in the SAP cloud universe and automate user management. Especially in a constantly evolving hybrid SAP landscape, it is crucial to consolidate all identities in one central location. SAP Cloud Identity Services support important industry standards such as SCIM, SAML 2.0, OAuth2 and OpenID Connect, enabling flexible deployment scenarios and integration options into existing IAM systems. We focus primarily on the Identity Authentication Service (IAS) and the Identity Provisioning Service (IPS).

Benefits of SAP Cloud Identity Services

Strong authentication

The Identity Authentication Service (IAS) enables secure authentication through multi-factor authentication (MFA) and single sign-on (SSO) to protect access to applications.

Less administrative effort

The Identity Provisioning Service (IPS) automates the provisioning and deprovisioning of users and roles across systems, simplifying identity management and reducing errors.

Risk-based authentication

Provides the ability to configure two-factor authentication based on authentication methods, IP ranges, user groups, or user types.

Your questions – our answers

How can SAP Cloud Identity Service be combined with other applications?
SAP Cloud Identity Service integrates seamlessly with existing SAP and non-SAP applications, enabling consistent user management and authentication across the entire IT landscape.

How does Single Sign-On work?
The use of the SAML 2.0 protocol makes it possible to provide single sign-on (SSO) for logging in from different devices. In addition, the application can be integrated programmatically by authenticating via the API.

What is delegated authentication?
Authentication can be done through IAS by default or delegated to a third-party or on-premises identity provider based on certain conditions such as identity provider, email domain, user type or user group. This enables single sign-on both on-premises and in the cloud.
